| Bio: | Soups Ranjan is a Senior Research Scientist, at Narus Inc. (a Boeing subsidiary) in Sunnyvale, CA. He obtained PhD and Masters degrees from Rice University in Oct 2005 and May 2002 respectively under the guidance of Prof. Edward Knightly. His research interests are at the cross section of computer networking and data mining. More specifically, his interests are in designing novel solutions to detect all things malicious in the Internet including Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, E-mail spam, VoIP spam, Botnets, BGP prefix-hijacking attacks, by using techniques from advanced statistics, graph theory, and data mining. He leads the Narus Fellows Research Program, via which he actively collaborates with CS/ECE faculty at many universities such as Texas A&M, Northwestern, U. Mass Amherst, Univ. of Minnesota, U. Penn, etc. He has co-authored 20+ technical papers in IEEE/ACM conferences, holds 3 patents and 10 additional patent pending applications with USPTO in the broad area of network security. |
